seasons change, don't stay the same by jasmine mitchell

Over the course of the year, I have seen a many social media posts and heard much talk of change taking place in everyones lives. I’ve seen people who have lost loved ones, I’ve seen people who have been hurt, I’ve seen people who have been affected by mental health, and those who have expressed a feeling of, “What am I here for?” I’ve also seen people find new love, find new jobs, stop old habits, find new friends, encourage themselves to do better, and even encourage others. I’ve see the country do great thing, and battle on the basis of what should or shouldn’t be allowed. This year has been an eye opener to show a bigger lesson.

As the leaves fall in the autumn, as the birds chirp away in the spring filled air, as the waves crash on the sizzling hot sand, and as the stars hold their positions in the windy winter air, so does life continue to move without permission, giving everyone a little piece of its existence. Everything has a place, a time, and a season, and we are not exempt from said understanding. As life goes on, we never stop running the race. We never stop moving or pushing or excelling. We always learn something new and see somethings in a different. We grasp a certain perspective in the beginning of our lives and have a duty to ourselves to understand that perspective in it’s unwavering truth to self and it’s understanding of incorrect assumptions that lead to divisions.

Based of the teachings of life for 2019, I pose this rhetoric for all to contemplate, understand, and explore in their own lives: What changes has this year brought to you, to equip you for your next beginning? What teachings has life brought that need more time for mastery? What areas of life have you held yourself back from by blatantly choosing to accept the terms of uncomfortable circumstances? Lastly, will this finally be the year you decide to cooperate and flow in all the greatness you have been destined for?

These questions I present are not of condemnation or shame, but only of love, respect for the pure heart, and intentions of being an influence of consistency in change as a regular part of life. 2020 will not be the year of the stagnant mule. Raise up and claim what you felt you could never be, greatness.

Everything the light touches by ebony jackson

*In my Mufasa voice* Look Simba, everything the light touches is our kingdom. I felt like I needed to start off with this for two reasons. One The Lion King is one of the most iconic movies ever and recently released the live action version. Two in the live action version Simba says that his father told him to protect everything the light touches. Because I love using analogies and examples, The light for today is vision.

Vision is the state of being able to see and to visualize is to imagine. Vision is ultimately the framework and foundation for our lives. Having vision and being able to see are two different things. Vision gives what you see feet. Vision takes what you see and makes it more. You have to consistently cultivate an authentic relationship with your vision. A lot of us have been reckless with our vision and have not protected it properly. We have been educated with restrictions and limitations and wonder why thinking outside the box is so hard. Thinking outside the box is still limited thinking. (Please refer back to my previous article “Don’t Think Outside the Box”). I’m learning to become more intentional about my vision and aligning (positioning) myself with the vision that I have so that it influences every part of my life.

I believe that people are racing to become wealthy without first having vision and secondly not being committed and persistent to that vision. Time can be your friend if you aren’t wasting it. Time can be beneficial in order to allow time to build something that is bigger than you. People are not willing to build on wins over time (whether big or small). People would rather get rich quickly and hurt themselves in the process because they have no vision for their success. The problem is that we set these cute goals, reach the goals, and pat ourselves on the back for doing something that took no effort. Again, it’s cute but when we are dealing with vision we shouldn’t be setting goals based on what we think we can do; we should set our goals based upon how far our vision can take us. Mediocre vision (and goal setting) always disappoints the person who has the potential to be more because having average goals always leaves the person unfulfilled. This is why it’s so important to protect your vision so that it isn’t diminished to just seeing.

Life is possible by jasmine mitchell

In the bible, there were stories. All kinds of stories. The validity of the stories are questioned by many today, but nonetheless, people lived and did many things in life, both bad and good. They went through things and had emotions about it. They got mad, sad, happy, angry, and some even murdered for their own good or what they believed was the good of their God or gods. Some were gay, some were prostitutes, some were black, some were more fair. Some were married and cheated, some were single and messing around. But at the end of the day, God chose to use all these types of people. He chose to love them and have them do amazing things to tell the wonders of The Alpha and Omega. They believed He was the truth. Some didn’t. Some didn’t care to believe and decided they wanted to do what they wanted at the end and died by the hands of their own demons. That’s what set people apart. The condition of their heart. I believe no mater what kind of person you are or what you did/are doing, as long as you’re heart is pure and you long to understand how to be the best version of you and are open to being imperfect to ultimately gain perfection, you’re name is written. I believe you are what God was looking for to tell the amazing story about you that shows how amazing He is. How someone can come from any background, be any color, grow up thinking any kind of way, but love the self they were made into and love the journey they went on to get the best out of life possible. I don’t mean the best at staying in a predicament that hasn’t shown you’re really growing and developing yourself. I mean the best at growing, molding, changing, learning, understanding, and making the best decisions for you to show forth your greatness on the inside out. Multiplying yourself and what’s inside you, whether that be children or something outwardly, or both (probably both so see how great things can take off with what you started.) Growing to you’re highest place, and sharing what you’ve learned for others to understand so they can do the same, and being an example just like the the ones you see in the bible. Jesus embodied what life would bring. He showed what to do when the situations came. It wasn’t always easy, hence He was “tempted”, but He was able to tell you what to say or do when you came upon an issue. Jesus told parables. Stories of people to learn lessons from. All these people lived life, and went through rough times. Some were able to change their hearts, lower their pride, and do what they felt was right. They had good intentions, learned, and grew. Some even had to hit rock bottom to understand what they had or understood what they were doing wasn’t going to get them the results they wanted. At the end of every story, Jesus gave a Word. He spoke on what was good to do, what was bad, and what should have been the outcome. He gave the stories so people would understand how to operate properly, and just flow the best way to prevent too much unnecessary chaos from occurring. He was showing us that it’s okay to be you. You can be you. You were designed to do greatness. You were made to have ups and downs. You were made to have emotions and opinions. You were made to change things to allow you and others to break boundaries that help people to love on one another in a way that people are becoming better. If your intentions aren’t in the right place, you won’t feel complete in yourself. You won’t find a wholeness. If you don’t try to love, understand, forgive, flow, push, and live, you can’t fulfill what you need to. You’ll just wander in life. It’ll kill your spirit because you have nothing you’re building. You have to build from the inside out. Bottom, up. But only you can do it for you. Understand why you went through your trials, love those people in a way that you can to thank them and God for placing them so you could get what you needed when you needed to. No one can control life. No one can have the cheat codes except those that read the Great Book to understand what is real and how to get what you need. God has so many love songs. He has so many poems. It doesn’t matter who wrote it because at the end of the day, they all say the same(choose which you can interpret best) which is do the right thing. Meaning do what is going to make your journey the most it can for you. Equip yourself with the stories of others, the wisdom you’ve accumulated, and the love you’ve show or have been shown to give others hope that they can make it. We’re going to be okay as long as we know that all we need is God. He’s on the inside of us. His words are His songs and His love is like sweet kisses. His wisdom is stern to keep you from the fire. He’s angelic. He’s weightless, He’s effervescent. He’s so transparent you can’t even see Him. But He’s always there... like air. He’s Life. You can’t explain Life. You can’t explain God. Understand Him to understand life.
